“Fear is not real. It is a product of the thoughts you create. Do not misunderstand me. Danger is very real. But fear is a choice.” Will Smith

Phobias & Fears

I wonder if any of these apply to you?

When in the presence of a threatening situation you experience:

  • Intense, immediate reaction of fear and panic

  • Feeling sweaty, jittery, dizzy, nauseous and tense

  • Abnormal breathing and chest pains

  • Embarrassment

  • Feeling powerless and helpless

  • Trouble functioning

  • Knowing that your fear is irrational yet not being able to control it

What is a phobia?

A phobia is basically an irrational fear.  The unconscious part of your mind somehow learned to fear the thing that has become a phobia.  This often happens in childhood but can happen as an adult too.  As a protective mechanism, your unconscious mind tries to get away from the situation that causes the phobia.  Symptoms such as heart palpitations or shaking are your body’s way of alerting you to get away from the phobic situation.

A phobic response can also arise when a situation in the present triggers a memory from the past that has strong emotions attached to it.  The strong emotion can come from the memory of a scary or traumatic experience in the past.  When a similar experience happens in the present, this fuels the strong emotions creating anxiety, fear, and phobias.

How can Hypnotherapy for Phobias help?

Hypnotherapy for Phobias helps you change how you perceive the event (or series of events) in your mind and memory, so that it’s neutral or even positive.  Then when the situation arises again, you will feel calm, relaxed and in control. If you can’t remember a specific event that caused the phobia, then don’t worry.  We will work with your unconscious mind in hypnosis to identify and neutralise the emotional trigger.

Another option is to work on changing the beliefs that you hold about the phobic situation.  With a new belief installed, you will easily change your thoughts and feelings towards the phobic situation.  You will then feel calm, relaxed and centred when the phobic situation arises again. Hypnotherapy for Phobias works directly with your unconscious mind and imagination to help resolve even the most stubborn phobias.
