I am often asked if hypnotherapy can help with difficulties within a relationship. Whether it is a romantic or work partnership, a friendship, or a family relationship that you’re struggling with, the good news is yes, this type of therapy can offer a permanent solution.

Life is busy and we can create high expectations of ourselves and those around us. We are under more pressure than probably ever before and trying to keep all those relationship plates spinning can be very challenging.

We get affected differently by pressure from work, money worries, parenting, illness and subconsciously we take it out on those around us.

How did you get here?

We are shaped by our past experiences so the way we function in a relationship is a learnt response, a response modelled to us by our significant care givers. If you were raised in a supportive, loving environment among people that met your essential needs you are likely to create thriving connections with others as an adult. However, if you had more of a rocky start you are likely to look for opportunities to have your unmet childhood needs fulfilled by other people. This normally becomes a script which you recreate repeatedly throughout your life.

Because those patterns come from our subconscious mind, we find it difficult to let go of past hurt and move on to using healthy ways of relating to others. Relationships can then slide into a downward spiral of upset and blame, which can be challenging to address without understanding the past experiences.   

How can hypnotherapy help?

Luckily nothing is set in stone. Modern neuroscience has proved that we can change existing patterns of thinking, feeling and behaviour. Hypnotherapy will help you to understand how past fears and experiences have shaped you and your subsequent behaviour. It will also help you to release in a safe way the past hurt and built a new system of positive beliefs around relationships. This then will shift the dynamics of your relationship for the better.
